Re: QR Codes for schools

Though I am not representing a school, I know a fair bit about QR codes and
would be happy to help.

QR codes are like bar codes -- think about scanning a ticket at a sporting
event -- except that they represent something. You might scan a QR code and
be directed to a website. You might scan a QR code at a museum and instantly
be directed to a page with lots of information about whatever it is that you
are looking at. You might scan a QR code on your phone, which in turn
downloads a mobile app straight to the device!

I think schools can use QR codes in a lot of different ways. I think one of
the best ways would be in their school literature. QR codes can be scanned
to generate a wealth of information; maybe it would even prompt somebody to
download the school's mobile app. It could also take someone to a
registration form for an event (reunions, or other alumni events). Whatever
it is -- you can use traditional forms of marketing (school publications) to
engage and prod those who have the proper devices to do things on campus.

I have seen a couple of my clients use QR codes in their school yearbooks,
too. Ironically, some have used QR codes for the sole purpose of educating
people on what QR codes are -- so that in the future, they can be used in
more practical ways.

If you have any more questions, I am happy to help.

Thanks,

Jeff
