You make excellent points. My concern is less with where the data is stored
(cloud or locally) than it is with the lax password policies and human
behaviors regarding confidential information. Personally, I am confident of
Google's security practices, though I recognize that others may not be. I
use a plugin with my browser to force https connections wherever possible
for encryption between myself and a website, and try to use secure
passwords, using lastpass to create passwords for me, and a secure password
with last pass. So I am personally confident that this combination if
secure. However, I know that many of our users use the same password for
everything,seldom change them, and leave their workstations unsecured. So
for me it's more a "wetware" than software issue.
