Apologies to you who have seen this from me on Twitter or on my blog, but I
want to share here a message about this "campaign" to those of you who
haven't yet heard about it.
As I have written about many times on my blog, including on a post last
month<http://21k12blog.net/2010/08/14/an-open-letter-to-nais-elect-an-ed-tech-director-to-the-board/>,
I have formed a strong impression over the past several years of observation
( observations of this ISED list-serve, the ise-net ning network, the NAIS
conferences, blogs and twitter feeds) that our NAIS Ed Tech Directors are
increasingly *our association's "brain trust*."
Many of our ed tech directors are not just expert in educational
technology; increasingly as you listen and see what they are doing, you
recognize that these folks are *leading the way in thinking about and
guiding us fellow independent school educators*
- in how learning is changing,
- in shaping schools and the classrooms of the future,
- in strengthening effective professional development for our faculties,
- in enhancing communication and collaboration among independent school
educators,
- and in informing the nature and process of change in schools.
For these reasons, I believe our association would be strengthened by having
an Ed Tech Director on the NAIS Board. Although most board members are
Heads, there are several who are not, and I think our association would be
greatly benefited by an Ed Tech Director's voice, participation, and
influence.
NAIS President Pat Bassett has expressed his support for this project: he
commented on my blog
post<http://21k12blog.net/2010/08/14/an-open-letter-to-nais-elect-an-ed-tech-director-to-the-board/>to
say he "couldn't agree more," and he encouraged readers to make their
own
nominations on the NAIS website.
Accordingly, I write today to encourage ISED readers to make your own
nominations.
Information about the board nomination process is
here<http://www.nais.org/about/index.cfm?ItemNumber=146149&sn.ItemNumber=1483&tn.ItemNumber=76263>;
the nomination page itself is
here<http://www.nais.org/applications/boardnomination/>.
It really only takes a minute or two.
You can find on my blog post my suggestions of about 15 Ed Tech Directors
"for your consideration<http://21k12blog.net/2010/08/14/an-open-letter-to-nais-elect-an-ed-tech-director-to-the-board/>;"
on that page I also welcome readers to post comments suggesting still other
fine Ed Tech Directors for consideration.
One month to go until nominations close! Make your nomination by October
15.
Best,
Jonathan
