We've long had a paper test calendar where teachers write up major
assessments, so that no one student has too many on the same day.
Since this is a 'write on the big wall calendar' approach, we can
currently see what order people put test items on in. We don't need to
break down to class period, just by the day.
We'd like to do something similar electronically. Our dream options would be:
- ability to color code for multiple grade levels (9th-12th, so four options)
- detail readable without several clicks
- some sort of time stamp or sorting (i.e. it's clear which test was
entered first, which was entered last.)
- easy to sync across multiple teachers automatically (i.e. they don't
need to manually update)
- tiered access: separate page for viewing (parents) than for entering
(teachers, admins, etc.)
We're a Mac school, and are going to 1:1 next year. We use FirstClass
for email, but have ruled that out for this function for usability
reasons.
It could be any of the following
- an add-on to Moodle
- something that adds onto CalDav/iCal
- if an external server, something that does Active Directory authentication
We've looked at
- Google Calendar (no timestamping, unless we're all missing a setting)
- iCal (same problem)
Thanks for your help!
