Tablet 1-1 justification

Hi,

I have a faculty member that "can't find any educational reason to justify =
1-1 computing at the middle school level". His contention is that middle =
school curriculum is better suited to traditional methods, and that many =
times technology is more about "cool" than actual learning. His statement =
is that often students learn more by putting project on poster board by =
hand than they do with a powerpoint and that some teachers would not =
notice that the content is not in the powerpoint. He also said that he =
can't think of any advantage to using a tablet in 6th. grade math.

I'd appreciate anything and everything to provide him with some alternative=
things to think about.
