Re: Video of student performances

Please keep this open. I have always been under the belief that this type
of posting would, indeed, break copyright laws. Recently I was told via a
contact at a major national newpaper that becuase we are an educational
institution that is not true. Others claim this falls under fair use
policy. Since we have not perceptibly enhanced the music, the performance
copyright license we purchase does not include web posting, and we are not
critiquing or making a parody, I am still skeptical that this is legally
allowed. I would love for this gray area to become less blurred. Perhaps
there is something of a statement already made by NAIS or elsewhere that we
can use for guidelines?
