When we started using Nings, wikis and blogs, we made them private. A =
few parents were anxious, so we created parent logins last year.
This year, we removed parent logins. Some of our accounts, primarily =
our Nings, were there are lots of comments, we make private by class. =
Sometimes, we even make them private by group within a class, depending =
on purpose. Some of our accounts are open by grade level, classes can =
post and read others. A few of our younger grades (2nd - 4th) use them =
primarily to work in partners or groups for projects, we have wide open. =
For example, our 2nd grade Women in History research is written up in =
Wikispaces. We want other 1st - 3rd grade classes (in other schools) to =
be able to see these pages, so they can use them for their Women in =
History research. =20

Subject: wiki/blog student comments
=20
We are experiencing a growth in the use of our school wiki/blog =20
server . Students are posting comments on blogs created by our =20
English faculty.
What is the best practice: have these comments seen by just the class =20
or allow postings to a more public space visible beyond the class ?
thanks
