We use Twitter as a way to share interesting tidbits about Science,
Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). Follow us on GirlsHaveITDay!
Girls Have IT Day is our annual event to encourage middle school
girls to study STEM and it is full of hands-on STEM-related
activities. Twitter allows us an easy way to continue sharing beyond
that one day.
In our handbook, we have a statement that reads, in part:
"...users should know that when they use the Internet, on or off
campus, their actions reflect upon the school as a whole. As such,
users must behave in a manner that is ethical, legal, and in
compliance with the rules and spirit of Xavier College Preparatory.
Students who post, on any website, content that disrespects or
reflects poorly on the Xavier community will be held accountable to
the school's standards and discipline."
I think that social networking sites, like Twitter and Facebook, hold
a lot of promise for connecting with today's learners and believe that
we have only scratched the surface.
All the best,
