Re: Limiting access to certain websites at certain times of the day

I use Cymphonix. It is a hardware device that does both filtering and =
bandwidth management. You can set time of day, days of week, down to =
the user level. It is not cheap, about $5000 - $8000 for the box =
(depending on bandwidth at your school) and then about $2000-$4000 a =
year depending on number of computers on your network.

Here's the scenario:
Students are asking us to restrict the use of Facebook during the school =
day
(really, they are - ok, some of them are). But since we have boarding
students, we'd like them to have access after school hours and on =
weekends.
Is there some sort of software that can be implemented at the school =
level
to control this sort of thing? All I've found so far is software =
intended
for home computers or software that turn the internet on or off entirely =
(no
granular control.)
Our school has never used any type of blocking/monitoring software =
before,
so I am new to the whole concept. Is anyone doing this or have =
experience
with software that does?
Thanks!
