The 8e6 and Fortinet products allow for profile scheduling. You can
create a day/night filter profile for your students. This is a common
feature found in firewall/filter products.
Check with your current filter/firewall manufacture to see if this
feature is currently available or planned in a future release before
investing in a new product.

Subject: Limiting access to certain websites at certain times of the day
Here's the scenario:
Students are asking us to restrict the use of Facebook during the school
day
(really, they are - ok, some of them are). But since we have boarding
students, we'd like them to have access after school hours and on
weekends.
Is there some sort of software that can be implemented at the school
level
to control this sort of thing? All I've found so far is software
intended
for home computers or software that turn the internet on or off entirely
(no
granular control.)
Our school has never used any type of blocking/monitoring software
before,
so I am new to the whole concept. Is anyone doing this or have
experience
with software that does?
Thanks!
