Drop folders on a Windows network

We've had a Novell network for longer than I've been at my school. Since I=
started, we've been giving teachers folders on the network in which they h=
ave Copy, Drop, Shared, and Portfolio folders for their students. Teache=
rs have full read/write access to all of these. Students have read-only acc=
ess to Copy, write-only to drop, read/write to Shared, and read/write to th=
eir individual Portfolio folders. This part of our Novell network has serv=
ed us well. Unfortunately, the rest hasn't been what our needs require, so=
we're moving to a Windows server environment. With this move, we'll also =
lose access to the "Drop" folder. It's been incredibly convenient for our =
faculty to be able to pull a single folder to a desktop for correcting. We=
've been told by our consultants that students can submit work via Portfoli=
o folders (teachers would have to "collect" work from each folder separatel=
y) or via Shared folders (risking student deletion or copying).

Long path to short question - What's your preferred method of collecting wo=
rk electronically?

I've created or short poll at: http://poll.fm/y9jq

I'm happy to share results. I'm hoping to find a more convenient solution =
in time to have it in place by August.

Thanks!
