Update

Some time ago, I asked for help and input on two items - wireless, and then
a printer recommendation. Here's what I have discovered - and with the
wireless, I hope it may help someone else.

I replaced the Linksys wireless router with a Netgear WAP (only). I don';t
know that it was the brand switch as much as that the WAP was NOT a router
as well - and therefore, did not run into problems with the Netopia router
that was installed by our ISP.

(As a colleague said, it may have been like crime cases where local law
enforcement runs into jurisdiction issues when the FBI gets involved - the
two routers were competing for authority.)

Don't know if this was the problem but the fact is: the wireless works!
Since I switched out the hardware, we've had no problems from anyone
getting connected to the domain.

Hallelujah!

As far as the printer goes, we ended up with an HP 2605, and it too seems to
be working just fine. We've got a little bit of a glitch with being able to
access duplex printing, but it's fast, quiet, with good-enough quality and
inks available through outlets other than HP.

So:; thanks for all the input. I hope someone is able to put this info to
good use.
