Re: Monitoring Student Use on Wireless Network

We are just in the beginning of implementing a new web filter called barrac=
uda. This device will allow us to filter access at school and at home. We=
even may turn Internet access off at certain times (this is being consider=
ed for our 7th graders.)

We do not allow cell phones during the school day and we have a laptop prog=
ram in grades 7-12.

Subject: Monitoring Student Use on Wireless Network

We have AUPs and the computers in classrooms and computer labs are monitore=
d, but I am wondering how others maintain any type of control or regulatio=
ns on what the students do with their wireless connections. For example, th=
ere's nothing preventing them from using their iPhone or other devices to b=
e on Chat Roulette during lunch.
