Brookwood School in Manchester, MA is looking to hire a computer support specialist for 20 hours per week (part-time position) beginning this August/September. Choice of hours/days is somewhat flexible.
This computer support position requires a very strong understanding of, and experience with, the Apple operating system. Some skill and experience with the Windows OS is helpful. (We are about 85% Macs.) Additionally, Apple server (Xserve) and
networking skills are a plus, as are familiarity with AFP, Apple Remote Desktop, and essential Mac OS utilities.
Duties include the following:
1. Install updates on Brookwood's (approximately 240) Mac computers. Updates include operating system software, Microsoft Office, Adobe Reader, Adobe flash, web browsers and various add-ons, in addition to other applications such as Timeliner, iWorks and
Audacity.
2. Installation of new software, as needed.
3. Conduct routine maintenance and cleaning of computers.
4. Trouble-shoot end-user problems with various programs, printers, smartboard and network connections, as needed.
5. Review and evaluate firewall logs to assess potential computer/network threats and report to the Director of Technology.
6. Perform minor computer/printer/smartboard repairs.
7. Provide training and support to school staff, as needed.
8. Assist the technology department in the administration of Brookwood's iPrism content filter and student/faculty file server (Xserve AFP).
