Eagle=92s Nest Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to=20
experiential education for young people=97promoting the natural world and=20
the betterment of human character. Eagle=92s Nest sponsors two programs:=20
Eagle=92s Nest Camp =96 a co-ed summer camp for children ages 6-17 focused o=
n=20
the development of the whole child through wilderness, arts, and community=20
activities, and The Outdoor Academy =96 an academic semester program for=20
10th grade students from across the country. The Outdoor Academy=20
incorporates a college preparatory curriculum with environmental=20
education, wilderness leadership, the arts, and regional studies. =20
Students from public and private schools apply to attend our community-
centered program in the mountains of North Carolina for one semester of=20
their 10th grade year. =20
STARTING DATE: March 10, 2010
JOB DESCRIPTION: The Admissions Director works closely with the Head of=20
School and other administrative personnel to build enrollment for The=20
Outdoor Academy and Eagle=92s Nest Camp. He/She is responsible for=20
marketing and recruitment initiatives for the school, and also supervises=20
the application, admissions, and financial aid process for incoming=20
Outdoor Academy students. This process entails communicating extensively=20
with schools, families, prospective students, and other constituents. =20
This communication involves regular use of web-based tools and digital=20
social media sites, in addition to telephone correspondence. The position=20
reports to the Head of School and collaborates with the Eagle=92s Nest Camp =
promotions and marketing team. The Admissions Director supervises and=20
delegates responsibilities to the Admissions Officer and the=20
Communications Intern.=20
PROMOTIONS RESPONSIBILITIES
=95 Plan and implement promotional strategies with the goal of=20
achieving full enrollment in The Outdoor Academy and across the=20
Foundation. Update and improve promotional materials and recruitment=20
strategies in an effort to reach this goal.
=95 Communicate effectively and persuasively with schools, parents,=20
and prospective students about the value of The Outdoor Academy=20
experience. This requires well-developed skills in writing, telephone=20
communication, electronic communication and utilization of web-based=20
digital social media tools. =20
=95 Develop relationships with students, alumni, alumni families and=20
schools so that they might host promotional events in their region.
=95 Schedule promotional events in schools and alumni homes. Work=20
with the Eagle=92s Nest Camp promotions team to coordinate joint promotional=
=20
events.
=95 Supervise the Admissions Officer, who will travel frequently to=20
make these presentations.=20
=95 Together with the Admissions Officer, develop and update power-
point presentations that communicate the value of our programs and attract=20
the interest of prospective students and campers.
=95 Track and make follow-up communication with prospective students.
ADMISSIONS RESPONSIBILITIES
=95 Direct the application, admissions, and financial aid process for=20
The Outdoor Academy.
=95 Prepare recruitment, admissions, and financial aid reports=20
periodically.
=95 Facilitate campus visits, open houses and tours for prospective=20
students and campers.
=95 Enter and update critical data in the foundation data base.=20
QUALIFICATIONS
=95 Minimum of a B.A. or B.S.
=95 Prior training or experience in marketing, public relations,=20
and/or educational administration.
=95 Experience working with outdoor, residential, experiential or=20
independent education programs.
=95 Experience working with database, power-point, digital photo,=20
social media and webpage-design applications.
=95 Study abroad or semester school experience would be a plus.
=95 Knowledge of independent or public schools in the Southeast also a=20
plus.
