Essentially what I tell my teachers is, if you want students to =
collaborate, then Google docs is great. But, if students are working on =
a simple word processing assignment, then it is much quicker for them to =
pull up a word processor and type it up.
We use it regularly in middle school, but for K-5, we have found other =
online tools to work better. (I have a list we use at =
www.tech-learn.org/il2009) Getting K-2 students to log into a local =
computer already takes class time. Then having them log into a Google =
Apps account takes even more time. =20
In middle school, students can use Google Apps whenever they want. =
(Rarely are they required to use a specific application by middle =
school. They can choose to use whatever tech tool works best for them. =
About 1/4 of them use Google Docs regularly, the rest prefer not to use =
it.)

Is anyone out there using Google Apps for lower grades? I am so =
intrigued by moving to the cloud for email and files, but worry about =
the littlest guys (K-2) trying to access Google Docs and the like. =
Anyone do this? Or maybe a combination of cloud and PC/Office Suite? I =
would be interested in hearing thoughts, opinions, pros/cons, =
experiences.

Thanks,
