computers (hardware and software) and A-V equipment, will work with
teachers to find ways to integrate technology into the curriculum, and
will teach technology skills to students (usually in the context of

Applicants should have extensive skills and experience with the Macintosh
platform and Mac-based applications, strong communication skills and a
strong demonstrated commitment to education. The ideal candidate will
have experience with image deployment on the Mac platform. Salary is

Job Description
Goals:
a) Assist the Director of Technology in providing technology support for
school-owned computers (hardware and software) and A-V equipment,
b) work with teachers to find ways to integrate technology into the
curriculum, and
c) teach technology skills to students (usually in the context of research
and special projects involving technology).
Specific Tasks
a) Assist with system deployment: imaging of computers, software updates,
distribution of laptops to teachers, training in their use, etc.
b) Provide hardware support (consistent with your experience) and serve as
a liason with Apple for warranty repairs and software support.
c) Assist with A-V setups, as needed, for all-school assemblies, faculty
and committee meetings and special events.
d) Provide tech support to classes using computers, particularly when
working in the computer lab or when teachers solicit help for projects
using the laptop labs.
e) Train teachers in the use of other important tools such as FirstClass
(for email and calendar), Moodle, and the PCR Educator Teacher Portal,
particularly with the goal of helping teachers post homework assignments
and other classroom materials online.
f) Coordinate/plan the technology portion of our Professional Development
days (usually in November and February).
g) Provide regular technology training and consultation opportunities for
teachers, such as "Tech Tuesdays."
h) Create clear, illustrated written instructions to faculty and staff for
certain common technology tasks.
i) Learn and model the use of innovative Web 2.0 technologies for
instructional use.
j) Solicit technology goals from faculty and follow up on those goals in
individual meetings with each classroom teacher over the course of the
year.
k) Define a set of ìbase levelî technology skills and work to make sure
all teachers have reached that level of proficiency.
l) Work with librarian to prepare a set of written/online
instructions/guidelines on the use of our online subscription-based
databases (Grolier Online, NewsBank InfoWeb, INET Library, World Almanac,
Facts for Learning, Atomic Learning), the online card catalogue and other
online resources such as MarcoPolo and PortaPortal.
m) Help with tech support and computer inventory documentation as needed.
n) Help place orders for technology and A-V-related supplies.
o) Check all computers in order to:
1) Verify that information about it is up-to-date in the technology
inventory database.
2) Verify that the Computer Name is up-to-date and consistent with the
inventory database and that ARD settings allow remote access.
3) Run Apple software updates.
4) Run most important non-Apple software updates (particularly MS Office,
FirstClass, and Firefox).
5) Clean keyboards, screens and computers as needed.
