School, 1 Middle School, and 2 Lower School) enroll and take part in
Powerful Learning Practice. This is the program run by Will
Richardson and Sheryl Nussbaum-Beach, two leaders in the progressive
movement to incorporate the new web-based tools for more student-
centered, project based, and connective learning. 100% of the
teachers involved have reported to me that this experience has been
TRANSFORMATIONAL for them and I have seen the results first hand in
the changes that have taken place in their teaching. Having served
the program as a fellow last year I learned first hand how terrific
this program is. I've arranged for Kinkaid to host a PLP cohort next
year and Kinkaid will have another team of teachers go through the
program. Up to 20 schools from across the country can participate in
this program. The program will launch at Kinkaid on September 21, 2009.
A brief overview of the program is noted below, and I've attached a
brochure a year one syllabus, and FAQs. Also, I've scheduled 2
webinars where you can learn more about Powerful Learning Practice
from Sheryl and Will. Feel free to invite as many interested
stakeholders from your school as would like to attend. The first
informational webinar is scheduled for Friday, May 15th at 8:30 CT.
The second is scheduled for Wednesday, May 20th at 3:30 CT.
