As we continue to examine the positives and negatives of social networking
sites in our efforts to educate our students and further refine our AUP
policies, I invite you to consider and respond to the following questions.
Please feel free to forward excerpts from your school's AUPs that address
the issues in question.
- Does your school's AUP address social networking sites?
- Do you block access to social networking sites? If so, why and how?
- Do you forbid students from using their official school email addresses
to become members of social networking and/or other non school-related
sites?
- Has there been any discussion within your school about leveraging social
networking sites for alumni and/or other purposes?
Thank you in advance for your help with these questions. As always, I
will be happy to share the collective wisdom that may result from your
responses.
Regards,
Steve
