Re: Required Computers for college

Karen,

Perhaps you could link it to a blog post on your ISE Ning site.

David - I research this annually for our parents. We are a 1:1 school,
and parents and students are interested in whether our laptop or tablet
choice will be accepted in the schools to which they are applying.

My research includes approximately 40 universities, the ones most
regularly attended by our graduates. Of those schools, very few have
specific models that they require. Many list recommended models, and
often include a Mac and PC so that students can
choose. The vast majority list minimum or recommended specs for both Mac
and PC - their major concern is being able to function on their networks
and use basic applications. A few schools require specific machines for
specific majors.

The list doesn't allow me to attach the pdf I send to parents and
seniors - if you want to see it, let me know and I'll send it to you
directly. Information on university web sites changes regularly at this
time of year, so some of it may be a little
outdated. Let me know if you have questions.
