Re: Open Source Web Filtering

We use OpenDNS and i love it for basics - it catches what our webfilter
doesn't, and our DNS lookups are super-speedy. One thing to look for if you
want appliance-style filtering free/cheap is the Untangle Firewall. It's
free and worth looking at (especially if you're interested in something that
works "out of the box") - get a cheap barebones from New Egg, and you might
be able to build a nice appliance on the cheap!

We are presently using a new Barracuda Web Filter, and I love it very much.
OpenDNS is definitely not a replacement, though. It just does last-line DNS
lookup filtering and it isn't designed to do the heavy-duty stuff a lot of
folks want - especially at the application level.
