Fred, I agree wholeheartedly with everything you said, with the exception of
"a much better operating system."
Unless, unlike me, you have the good fortune to be running a Mac, my
experience has been that Windows OS has not really made much improvement
since 98SE, which I thought was a pretty stable and generally ok OS.

Put me down as one very interested in the topic of faculty development in
this area, which I see not as important but critical, even as it seems, at
times, like the best way to do it is to simply wait for the elders to
retire.
