Here are a few suggestions and ideas. As with anything, it's going =20
to depend a great deal on the internal culture at Graland as to what =20
works and how and how to approach everyone.
I'm assuming you are hoping that the technology specialist becomes =20
more of a coach/mentor to the teachers rather than having teachers =20
specifically work with you during those classes you describe 1/2 hour =20=
a week and that, probably with a number of exceptions, this 1/2 hour =20
per week becomes the time for technology and the rest of the class =20
time K-4 becomes the "regular" time and you are hoping that =20
technology becomes more of a vehicle for integration rather than a =20
discrete separate skill/activity albeit using embedded curriculum.
If there are thematic units that are cross-discipline this can be a =20
great way to be involved and to build in technology as one of the =20
"signature units" as there are so many rich possibilities.
If there is a curriculum map or a way to track what projects/=20
activities are coming up you can reach out to the teachers say 4-6 =20
weeks before a big unit with resources and ideas
If there is an assembly around a topic you can reach it and become =20
involved with videotaping, streaming it, blogging it, etc. to give =20
the whole division a chance to see possibilities
If there is a regular curriculum committee you can join it and =20
continually offer technology options for projects/activities
Just a couple things that could help out. I'm sure other ISED-L =20
colleagues have more ideas.
Best regards,
Pamela
