are invited to the last dance, our "graduation" dance. We also have 4 or
5 "social events" which happen right after school on Fridays for an hour
or two. All students 6-9 are invited to attend.
A couple more thoughts:
We require all 6-9 faculty to sign up to chaperone at least one dance or
social event. This has actually helped with supervision and has helped
us with the question of "appropriateness," as there are more eyes. This
hasn't been a great problem for several years now [though I won't say
that it isn't always a question].
As well, for what it's worth, we allow one guest per Graland student.
Those guests must be introduced to chaperones. This too is rarely a
concern.

Subject: School Dances - Alternatives?
Greetings,
=20
I am trying to gain some insight into the variety of events many of
your schools do as alternatives to the traditional school dance. I know
that many schools have ceased with dances and I was wondering if any of
you have experimented with doing the same. Thanks for any feedback you
can provide.
