General Reliability of Cable Providers for Internet service

PDS are a semirural school in the Hudson Valley of NY. We have currently
outgrown our 3M T1 lines and I'm looking at the local cable company to
provide us Internet service. Since we are a bit out of the way, the
cable company would have to run a cable to our school 1/4 mile at a cost
of nearly $11,000. Over a 2 year span, it would still be least expensive
option.=20

My question is (and I know results may vary) how reliable is cable? Just
for info sake, the connection will be by Cablevision. Thanks in advance
for any info.
