We use SIP and Safeware. The SIP policy is our first choice since the
cost for full coverage and accidental damage is $50.00 per year for a
$2000 policy.
If the student exhaust the SIP policy and cannot renew we move them to
Safeware.

Subject: ISED: Insurance for Student Laptop Programs
Good Morning:
As I plan for our laptop rollout in August, I have been thinking about
including in the packet some information regarding laptop insurance.
Has
any laptop school had good or bad experiences with specific programs
that
insure laptops? We had a case this year where a student who is on
financial
aid was given a laptop purchased by the school and the laptop was
subsequently stolen from his home during a robbery. That happened in
the
fall. While the family appears to have had some home insurance, we have
received nothing from the family or rather their insurance company to
cover
part of the cost of the laptop. We are thinking that we should require
any
family to whom the school gives a laptop to purchase specific laptop
insurance.

Barbara
