Re: School databases and the staffing for managment of those databases

Hi Fred,

We are examining this as well. This year Technology has been given the
responsibility of managing the school Database systems. The role is to
oversee, provide support and document practices. We work with each
department which maintain their own Data and continue to use on a daily
basis.=20
Technology also has the task of Web management. We have just recently
launched our new website and we are in the process of putting an
organizational structure in place.
I would love to see someone who has Database Management skills and the
ability to work on Web site management. I believe the website requires
the distributed responsibility structure, which needs to be overseen by
project management.

Hope this is helpful,
Tom

Subject: School databases and the staffing for managment of those
databases

I'm very curious what independent schools are doing in terms of database
management staffing. How many positions, where the positions are located
within the organizational structure, and what the impact is on staffing
of
various approaches to providing database services... are the major
questions I have. Before creating a survey I thought it would be helpful
to brainstorm the idea a bit to help clarify what information would be
most helpful to collect... and of course share.

Thanks for any thoughts you are willing to share on the subject.

Fred
