I've found that wireless is often times dubbed the villain when it isn't =
the wireless itself that is causing the troubles. Profiles/network =
preferences should be looked at carefully prior to pointing a finger at =
wireless. Sometimes these profile files can be HUGE, which causes =
slowness and lagging when users login and logout using WiFi. With our =
student laptop cart it will sometimes take 10-15 minutes for a student =
to login with his/her network account. When we use a local machine =
login on that same computer, the login time is 5-10 seconds and students =
are able to get internet access and printer access.
My apologies if you've already looked carefully at this...but I just =
wanted to bring it up before you pay handsomely for a wireless network =
survey that isn't needed.
Good luck,

Subject: Looking for excellent wireless help
=20
Good morning.
Does anyone have a recommendation for someone in the DC/Silver Spring =
area
who can help us out with our wireless system? Frankly, it has just never
worked right, and as we push/cajole kids and faculty into using laptops,
we're running into this bottleneck of frustration with endless waits for
logging on, network not available messages, dropped connections, etc.
What we need is someone who is really, really good with this stuff and =
who
can come in and analyze what's going on, fix it, and leave us with some =
info
as to typical responses we an execute when typical things go awry.
Thanks for your help!
