We're using a DrupalEd wiki table for a scope and sequence project in our Science Department right now. It's working, but not perfect. I might check out Google Spreadsheets as an alternative.
We have also done some internal programming with php and mysql for some curriculum mapping projects. Never the first choice, but when the goal of the project is very specific, it can work.
