Re: P/T conference software

Last year we tried using google spreadsheets embedded into an edublogs page.
For the most part it was successful. Since I made the pages editable by all
to avoid any problems with sign ins, we did have a few people who erased
other appointments and substituted their own names- revision history was
helpful. I also had one parent who really messed up sheets. There are a few
without internet access or who choose not to use it the system. They could
come in and sign up or call in and ask the secretary to sign them up.
Although we sent out emails and put it in the weekly newsletter there were a
few parents who did not know about the conference sign up change. I don't
know what to do about that. We send out emails, send out newsletters and for
the early childhood and lower school, they also get a weekly newsletter from
the teacher- if they don't read it...oh well. For the first year, I felt it
went well and plan to do it again this year. The only time consuming part
was the initial set up of the spreadsheets. They were a little tricky to set
up and have them print out properly for those who wanted a print out of
their day.
