Re: imaging software

I ran into the same problem with the SID and it was Greek to me as well. =
After I imaged my machines, I ran this download =
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb897418.aspx which =
assigned a new random SID to the imaged machine. Then I was good to go.

On a related note, anyone know how much an enterprise version of ghost =
runs costwise?

Maureen,

If you will be imaging a relatively large number of PCs on a regular =
basis,
you'll want an enterprise imaging solution. I'm only familiar with =
ghost,
but the enterprise version handles SID changes (as well as =
removing/adding
systems from the domain) as part of the imaging process. If you don't =
have
an enterprise version, you can run sysprep on the PC you're taking the =
image
from prior to taking it. After downloading the image to your other PCs,
Windows will run a mini-setup that will give you the opportunity to =
assign
the systems unique names and enter license keys, and it will generate a
unique SID.
