Re: cell phones

Hi!

I am but a simple Humanities teacher, though admittedly one who at one
point in time was a member of our Technology Department as well as my
other academic departments.

I believe we need to keep the focus on what skills our students need,
and work with our own experience, our colleagues, and the Tech people
at our schools to help choose appropriate tools to enable the kids to
engage with their work in acquiring those skills. I would happily use
anything from a paper clip to a supercomputer if that was the tool
appropriate to the task. Any tool (from a paper clip to a
supercomputer) may be abused. The key isn't to ban, I don't think, but
rather to teach and reinforce appropriate use, and address
inappropriate use should it happen.

Take care,
