Readers of this listserv are certainly aware of all of the promise - and =
hype - about 21st century teaching and learning, and especially the impor=
tant role that technology will play in it.
With that in mind, I've recently begun thinking about what the 21st centu=
ry school tech department might look like. I have my own thoughts, which =
I have outlined on a recent blog post (taffee.edublogs.org). But I see th=
rough a glass darkly, and would
really like to hear what others within this group have to say about quest=
ions such as these:
- What does a 21st century school look like, and how will its adults be o=
rganized?=20
- How can we leverage 21st century technology and practices to lower oper=
ational costs while still fulfilling our academic mission?=20
- Will there still job titles like Technology Directors, Academic Technol=
ogy Coordinators, Help Desk Personnel, Database Managers and Network Mana=
gers?
- What are the characteristics of successful 21st century educational tec=
hnologists?
- What developments in technology and technology users will occur over ti=
me that may lead tech departments to have to change their practices or st=
ructure?
Hoping for an enthusiastic discussion.....
