Re: Who and what would you choose to help inspire a 'rethinking school' brainstorming effort?

Hi Fred:

I listened to MIT's DARPA Balloon Challenge team leader, Riley Crane--the=
organizer for the winning team--speak on NPR's Science Friday last night=
. The amount of information he was allowed to share about the team's stra=
tegies was limited as it is still being carefully analyzed, but key was t=
he team's consideration of all aspects of the information gathering proce=
ss, and the designing of specific apps/instruments for analyzing and sift=
ing through the data that was reported to them. I took a look at their we=
bsite on Friday, the 4th, knowing that this challenge was probably too te=
mpting for a group of MIT graduate researchers in Human Dynamics to pass =
up. It was clear they were ahead of the curve!

Nevertheless, it was fun to be involved in this balloon-chase, and to see=
how other teams set themselves up to win. Thanks for organizing us!

Libby

Sarah, Shelley and Gary, Thanks so much for your feedback! Shelley, I'm s=

list... which is rapidly getting longer. Gary, any chance you would be wi=
lling to share some references to the most important works that have guid=
ed your efforts in rethinking schools? Fred [ For info on ISED-L see http=
