Director, Online School for Girls

The Online School for Girls was founded in the summer of 2009 with the =
mission to provide the best education in a digital environment to girls =
around the world. The Online School for Girls is a consortium =
membership school, originally founded by Harpeth Hall School (TN), =
Holton-Arms School (MD), Laurel School (OH), and Westover School (CT). =
In the winter of 2009, the Online School for Girls membership grew to =
include Atlanta Girls School (GA), Ellis School (PA), St. Mary's =
Episcopal School (TN), and St Paul's School for Girls (MD). The School =
is the first online school to create single-gender courses. As such, in =
order to create the best online learning experiences for girls, the =
School created four pillars for learning: collaboration among student, =
connection between students, creativity in the classroom, and =
application to real world problems.
The Online School for Girls is searching for a Director who will manage =
the day-to-day operations of the School to begin work on July 1, 2010. =
The Director should have a clear vision for the role of online education =
in the teaching of girls in the twenty-first century. She/he should be =
a superior communicator, capable of articulating the mission and =
philosophy of the School to multiple constituents. She/he should embody =
an entrepreneurial spirit that includes an aptitude for fundraising and =
development of a new product. She/he should embrace collaboration as a =
means for advancing the causes of the School. And, she/he should have =
management experience that would apply to dealing with the complexities =
of a School.
The Director will need to lead both the educational and business =
operations of the School. Specifically, she/he will lead the following =
educational operations: admissions, accreditation, student academic =
counseling, curriculum development, faculty evaluation and professional =
development, and technology implementation. In addition, she/he will =
lead the following business operations: management and hiring, marketing =
and communication, business development, fundraising, and recruiting.
The Director will have the ongoing support of the Online School for =
Girls Board of Trustees. Trustees are representatives from all =
consortium member schools and have managed the operations of the Online =
School for Girls through its pilot year (2009-2010). The Board will =
continue to lead the strategic planning for the School and will continue =
work to ensure the financial sustainability of the School. .
The salary and benefits are commensurate with experience. The Director =
should expect to travel approximately 20-25% of his/her time.=20
