an area of interest to many of us. Spook, I hope you will share with the
list the results of those who reply directly to you.
>I would like to ask some questions about online courses.
>
>1 - Are your students taking online courses and if so what are they?
A few. We have an advanced math class whose students regularly take a
Stanford online course as part of their course. We have one student taking
an online Sanskrit course next year.

>2 - Are you creating any online courses and what are they?
I'm developing a Java course now. The still-in-development experimental
first 'draft' of the course content is available here
(http://java1.editme.com/Home) for anyone who wants to take a look. I may
work on an AP Comp. Sci. and/or CAD course this summer. I'm intrigued by
the approach suggested by Roger Schank here
(http://www.bfoit.org/EveryCurriculumTellsAStory.pdf) and want to explore
his ideas and those Chris Bigenho is exploring (see
http://www.dlp4success.com/nais2009/Collection/arg.htm) along with
possible collaborative approaches.

>3 - If you are creating online courses are they for internal use only?
The Java course is currently just for internal use but I hope to make it
available externally next year.

>4 - If they are for outside use who can use them and what are your
>charges.
Haven't worked this out yet.

>5 - If you are teaching online courses, do you have special teachers that
>teach them or to your regular classroom teachers teach online.
Not there yet.
>
>
>6 - Are you using Video conferencing? Can you tell me how you are using
>it?
I see video conferencing as being a very valuable tool for online
courses. I currently video and audio conference with family members on a
regular basis. It has become part of how I communicate with them. As we
all become more comfortable with this technology I think it will play a
steadily increasing role in education.
